Americans are fortunate to have the most advanced and innovative health care system in the world. Wisconsin Club for Growth supports making private health insurance more affordable and increasing the number of Americans with health insurance. In order to do that we must move away from reliance on government-run health care and toward a system in which Americans have better access to basic, affordable private insurance, and increased ownership of their medical decisions. HSAs In Washington, Congress created Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) so independent businesses could afford health insurance.
Jim Doyle vetoed bills that would have allowed businesses in Wisconsin to benefit from that legislation three times. Providing state tax credits for HSAs will promote consumer driven solutions to making health care more affordable and accessible by entrusting employees to choose the best course of treatment. Empowering employees to become personally involved in their treatment will also help to curb the rising costs of healthcare.
