Wisconsin Club for Growth recently discovered nearly 40 emails sent to or received from the taxpayer funded email account of Assembly Candidate Chris Buckel. Included in the emails was correspondence from fellow teacher Debbie Schock to several other school district employees including high school guidance counselor Bill Stuessell and District Superintendant Dan Woll. The email solicits campaign support for State Senate candidate Allison Page.
Just how wide spread is the use of taxpayer funded email by public school employees working on political campaigns?

Subject: Alison Page campaign

Hi all,
I hope you are enjoying your summer. It seems to be flying by and I keep getting that panic feeling like I usually do when I realize that my summer is slipping away - and then I remember that it doesn't make any difference for me anymore! Sorry!!
I recently talked to Alison Page who I am sure you know is running against Sheila Harsdorf this year. I told her I would pass her info on to some Association leaders and people active politically that I thought might be able to help her out and recruit others also. I hope you don't mind! For the first time in years I feel like we finally have a candidate that could beat Sheila.
I don't know if you know this but Alison is a good friend of Sheila's and even headed her campaign at one time. She is not a real liberal Democrat which I think makes her a little more electable in Republican St. Croix County that some candidates we have had in the past. She has a name recognition (through her in-laws) that extends farther than just this county going for her and has extensive experience in education as a school board member and in the health care industry. She recently left her job at Fairview so she could work on the campaign full time. Her husband, a dentist in town, is a small business owner so has connections in that area. She is passionate about education issues and health insurance. That is why she told Sheila a few years ago that she could no longer support her because of her lack of leadership in these areas. She doesn't support Sheila's devotion to cutting taxes no matter what - at the expense of important education and health programs.
I realize that Alison has not always been the favorite of the RF teachers as her role of School Board president often put her at the other side of the table (Kit, you could probably elaborate on that!) but she does know school issues. She would definitely be much more of an advocate for education that Sheila has been.
The point of all of this is that she needs help on her campaign - physically and monetarily. I am hoping you will help her any way you can (I know, Chris, you have your own campaign to worry about but maybe you can share resources!) as well as recruit others. You can contact her by phone - she's in the phonebook - or by email at alisonhpage@yahoo.com. She is also getting a website up and running where you can sign up if you are willing to help. It is www.pageforsenate.com. You can also get more info about her and her campaign at this site.
I hope you will register at her website so she has you for contact information. Have a great summer and maybe I'll see you at an "Alison gathering"!!
Debbie
